On Inspiration

[blockquote text=’I still have a dream. It is a dream deeply rooted in the American dream.Ā  I have a dream that one day this nation will rise up and live out the true meaning of its creed: “We hold these truths to be self-evident, that all men are created equal.ā€’ quote_author=’Dr. Martin Luther King Junior’ text_color=” width=” background_color=” border_color=”]

Fundamentally, we all want to be inspired.

Today, we honor the life of a great leader who inspired so many to do what they did not think possible, to rise above what felt like defeat. He stirred souls. He left the world a better place. And he did this through the power of words backed by action.

As each of us thinks what story should we tell, how should we as individuals and as companies communicate with those around us, it behooves us to remember that our communities want to connect and engage. The only way to do this is to share what matters to us and to allow our communities to do the same.

If you are a company and thinking through your outreach and communication, what great story do you wish your employees knew, your customers or your vendors. Tell it! Let what moves your company, what matters to your company shine through. Own your story and your brand. Your employees will work harder because they are part of something bigger than themselves and their paycheck. Your customers will be more loyal because you have a stickiness with them that has nothing to do with data. Your entire organization will be better for it.

In the end, we are just waiting for the chance to be inspired, to see whatā€™s possible. Show us.
