As communications continue to converge online, we all become marketers! Businesses need practical creativity and a fundamental understanding of communications to ensure the entrance into the conversation is purposeful and moves the needle. Social media has emerged as a “must have” for the business community and organizations are grappling with how to harness the power of this medium. Even companies who would not traditionally value marketing recognize the conversation about their business is happening and it’s happening online. They can either join the conversation or they can sit on the sidelines. All the platforms of communications can no longer exist in a vacuum. To be effective, you need strategy, simplicity and speed. But, how do you break through?
That’s been one of my mantras — focus and simplicity. Simple can be harder than complex: You have to work hard to get your thinking clean to make it simple. But it’s worth it in the end because once you get there, you can move mountains.
