10 DAYS OF THINGS WE LOVE – #8 – HOT SPOTS

After a hard week (or day’s work) it’s nice to unwind and have a little fun. Dallas’ nightlife never disappoints, and we’ve provided a little guide through some of our favorite neighborhoods.

Out and about on McKinney in Uptown? Here are two hot spots that never disappoint:

1. So&Soā€™s
This conveniently located, neighborhood restaurant and bar stays busy with Uptown natives who want a good time. Falling in line with their slogan ā€œsomething for everyone,ā€ they provide a wide variety of drinks, good food and live entertainment. Grab a drink and one of their mouth-watering pizzas on the patio, or lounge with the DJ on the den-style couches and chairs. We love the attention to detail with design in every corner, and an intricate book and trinket collection among the bookshelves. Oh, and donā€™t forget the Instagram-worthy sign above the back door, ā€œthe more sins you confess, the more books you will sell.ā€

2. Parliament
Parliament is a small, neighborhood bar with a focus on hand-crafted cocktails. We consider them some of the best in Dallas – (we recommend The Pozolero). And if you want to learn from them, you can sign up for their new Mix Master Classes to step up your own cocktail game.

In the Highland Park, Park Cities area? Stop by our favorites in Highland Park Village:

3. Lounge 31
A private party in the Champagne Lounge, or a fun happy hour in the cozy corners of what feels like the designated tree house for Dallasites, 31 always delivers a great night out. Seating is available on the outside patio, the upstair terrace as well as the covered back rooms; all of which have top notch staff who are having almost as much fun as you. With the amazing drinks and DJ, a surprising sushi bar and the wide range of fabulous people flocking to this happy place, it makes for an amazing night of people watching too great to pass up.

4. Monkey Bar
Skip the second floor of Mi Cocina and find your way to the hidden set of stairs leading to this tucked-away gem on the third floor set among the infamous trees of Highland Park Village. Holding comfortably no more than 30 people, the intimate and exclusive setting sets this bar apart. Whether you are celebrating a girls night amongst the tall dark and handsome, or on a date to get to know one another, we recommend a Mambo Taxi in one hand and the Uber app in the other, ā€˜cause the mood of this bar just canā€™t be beat.

If you are in the Deep Ellum/Downtown area, or just looking for the next party move…

5. Truth and Alibi
Wondering why there is a line out the door of The Original Deep Ellum Candy Company? At midnight? Donā€™t be fooled. Going along with T&Aā€™s underground feel, the unique bar has a candy store entrance with a hidden door to the bar. Like the Facebook page to be in the loop of the weekly password, or good luck getting in. With two bars, top local DJs, VIP reservations available, and plenty of gaudy-chic chairs to sit in for a good Instagram pic, here you can find the lounge feel without going to an actual club.
