game on…

The Social Media Revolution is on and it is changing the way we do big things and little things ā€“ the way we decide where to eat, talk to our friends, where we select our next location, what nonprofit to support, what cause to connect with, how we land a deal, what vendor we go with, who to hire, marry, elect to office.Ā  Itā€™s not going away and itā€™s only going to get bigger.Ā  We all remember when email revolutionized our lives and we now know social media is going to be even bigger.Ā  There are whole industries growing out of social media and it is just getting started. If you are still considering whether or not social media and content development are good investments for your business, your brand, your career, know the game is at play and you are already running behind.Ā  Itā€™s time to get moving!

But as with all effective communications, you still need a strategy.Ā  This is not activity for activityā€™s sake. Communication that is integrated into your business operations and developed to meet your business goals is not free-wheeling throw some stuff up on a blog, Facebook or Twitter. You need a plan that ties to your 2013 goals:

  • Who is your current audience? What kind of audience do you want to have?
  • What aspects of your business do you need to grow?
  • What markets do you think have the most leverage for your business?
  • Who are the key influencers in your industry?Ā  How do you connect with them?

Once you have the answers to these questions and you are ready to invest some dollars in developing a communications strategy, then what?Ā  Check back with us next week.

Until then, don’t miss this Ā video on the staggering explosion of social media.
